    Make maximum use of
    ArcGIS and extend it

SynerGIS WebOffice is technically a SOE (Server Object Extension) to ArcGIS for Server – a concept explicitly built into ArcGIS to custom-extend it. And that's about it for talking technology here  – lets focus on major features of WebOffice:

Advantages at a glance

WebOffice has evolved over time  by cooperation and experience coming from customer projects. The following list represents those features that our longtime users value the most:

1.

Functional surplus
Use all features, clients, apps, ... of ArcGIS PLUS WebOffice and benefit from its focused administrative, functional and integrative additions.

2.

Economy of time
Reduce your need of extra know-how, optimize the administrative overhead and use the time gained for content and analysis

3.

Minimize risk
You can rely on this maintained product for enterprise use. Gain functional planning reliability and financial predictability that is advantageous compared to individual programming.

The WebOffice Platform – Extend ArcGIS, optimise Workflows
Authoring WebGIS Projects with WebOffice

Extended workflows

Enterprise maintainability and administrative simplicity are a constant focus of WebOffice. This is a list of important workflows where these advantages will be beneficial:

Centralized maintenance of all project configurations

WebOffice author is your working environment for creation and maintenance of WebOffice projects. Wizards (if preferred a generic edit-mode) plus effective tools provide a straight-forward and efficient way to maintain existing projects or create new ones.

Just combine layers from existing published services, pre-defined queries and views, languages offered, layouts for print/reporting and previously used interfaces to other enterprise systems and finally add your security and user-role concept on top of it.

Your basic services remain untouched and available to all ArcGIS apps - you merely create additional "views" based on this data - for manifold usage scenarios that make use of the extras included in the ready-to-use WebOffice clients.

Fine-grained access control

Being able to define access to functions of a WebApp to a fine-grained level gives administrators control and strengthens enterprise security. In WebOffice the services security model is extended to include roles and user-rights based on Layers, Queries, Reports/Plot templates and even Tools.

And this doesnt end at the administrative level: Users, if granted, can store their queries and selections to be maintained across usage sessions and to be available even on a different machine.

Optional, you connect with common repositories like LDAP, Microsoft Active Directory®, Novell eDirectory® or Sun Directory Server® to implement "Single Sign On".

You have moved on and use Portal for ArcGIS together with your ArcGIS for Server? Good! And rest assured: The Named User scheme you are using is fully supported by WebOffice.

Offer real multi-lingual apps

WebOffice projects can be set up in more than one language in any detail: Besides the GUI of the client this also includes anything else: from the Descriptions to select of predefined queries up to the multi-lingual attribute lists (field-names and content) of identify dialogs. By logging in, the end-user decides which language WebOffice uses to communicate in – including Arabic ... right to left.

Browser-based editing & construction

Offer your users a set of editing and construction features in their browser apps that require a Desktop app otherwise. This includes snapping, configurable editing tasks, editing of tables and more  all with intuitive handling.

These editing features are tied into the extended user rights management - that's your way to define who is allowed to access which functionality!

Handle high-end plot requirements

Template-based plotting is a standard feature of ArcGIS. There is a set of requirements as known from desktop applications that we implemented to extend this template based plotting: Draw your desired plot frame right in the browser window, create Indexplots along a selected line feature, add properly layoutet tables, support for user-defined reference systems or import user-based content like LDAP-attributes, logos, ...

Slick presentations by means of professional reports

WebOffice Reporting is your data-integration-platform plus presentation-media. Create meaningful documents that combine geo-data and location with business data coming from the different sources in your enterprise. All of this is accumulated on the server side and available anywhere – even mobile.

That's where WebOffice scores as an interface to external data sources! Reports are simply defined using an intuitive GUI – and can be based on re-usable templates in your corporate design.

Integrate external systems, make use of standard formats

Enterprise workflows usually involve different systems and applications. The ArcGIS ecosystem supports geo-standards like OGC WM(T)S, WFS and CSW services plus numerous file- and web-formats as well as all leading database systems.

On top of all that, WebOffice adds more integrational interfaces. A general effect being shorter implementation cycles with predictable costs. These interface extensions are:

  • Hooking up other web applications and database data
  • Extensions to the OGC WM(T)S capabilities
  • Besides Esri Basemaps, you can integrate OSM data and Bing(R) maps
  • A URL-call Interface
  • APIs for: Client control, custom tools & services
  • A fully embeddable client-control (see map widget below)

Network trace

Make use of WebOffice for basic network tracing. Without the enhanced features of a geometric network this will still enable your users to perform basic tracing tasks, like finding street lights connected/not connected to a segement (find connected/disconnected).

Universal WebOffice-Clients

All WebOffice Clients have something in common: ONE project configuration can be used by all clients! This way, you can instantly work with just the client that meets your immediate need or working situation the best.

Future now: Core Client

The Power-Client of WebOffice – leveraging html 5 and JavaScript. Ribbon-based, modern, highly functional and offering real Web-GIS-Functionality.

Interactive: Flex Client

This Client has been designed for "vertical" applications with an optimized yet selective set of features to support defined repetitive workflows.

A special touch: Mobile Client

Todays devices have touch-interfaces. This client has a GUI reduced to a minimum plus configurable "One-Touch" features.

Enterprise ready: The map Widget

If you are in need of a control/widget to embed WebOffice into the application window of another web application  here you go.

Always up-to-date

Since 2002, WebOffice has been available as an extension to the most recent ArcGIS Server technology. Regarding IT in general and its innovation cycles, this is quite a journey!

Your requirement: Individual features but minimal effort

To integrate into your enterprise seamlessly, you probably need features or workflows that do not come out-of-the-box with ArcGIS Enterprise. And any custom development will take time, cost money and has to be maintained afterwards. That’s where the added value of WebOffice kicks in.

Added value of a maintained software solution

Due to our regular updates you’ll be on the latest ArcGIS release and compatible with other system components. The additional customer-driven features of WebOffice allow rapid and low-cost implementation. Plus, you’ll benefit from WebOffice innovations!

Flexible deployment

Make use of our Hosting- and Cloud offerings and benefit from operational and IT safety plus being on the most current release at any time. Or operate ArcGIS Enterprise and WebOffice within your own infrastructure and follow your individual update cycles.

SynerGIS WebOffice and the other SynerGIS solutions are being developed in close coordination:

Synergis proOffice is a modular infrastructure management platform (FM/ERP) in itself. It is designed to work together with WebOffice services, whenever geo-functionality (geocode, visualize, edit) is required.

Whenever a position has a focus on GIS-tasks like high-end editing, flexible analysis or geodata-management, this will require a flexible and configurable desktop software solution like SynerGIS GeoOffice.
