ÖAI – Excavations at a glance
The number of map printouts is a measurable value for this demand. In 2013 alone, 64,000 printouts were generated from the services offered - 1/3 of them by citizens on the Internet. We constantly evaluate ongoing demands and develop further services.
The Austrian Archaeological Institute – short OeAI – is an Austrian research institute directly subordinate to the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy and was founded as early as 1898.
The staff members in the Head Office Vienna and additional local offices in Athens and Cairo are responsible for numerous archaeological projects at home and abroad. One of the most well-known projects is the research site Ephesos on the west coast of Turkey. Data from the excavations in Ephesos have been generated since the beginning of 1895.
All data of any excavation is available for viewing, documentation and editing at the Head Office in Vienna and at the local offices. WebOffice assists in the following workflows:
- Basedata: City-Maps/Plans, Cadastral data, historic Plans/maps, Orthophotos, Radar-/LIDAR-/Magnetic- survey data, Geologic charting
- Tasks: Query, Measure, Find coordinates, Web-Output and high-quality printing/plotting
In addition to the range of comprehensive data of the excavations, the users of the WebGIS are directly linked to the photo database EasyDB, which provides a high-quality image documentation of the excavations - linked into the WebGIS.
